Fr. Prior Celebrates 41st Sacerdotal Anniversary

Prior of the UNO-R Community and Director of Scholarships, Fr. Emeterio D. Buñao, OAR celebrated his 41st Sacerdotal Anniversary last September 24.  In his simple way, he shared God’s blessings with some members of the community as well as with members of the Secular Augustinian Recollects Fraternity of UNO-R.  In the afternoon, he spent time with his staff and beneficiaries of Recollect Social Outreach Center (RESOURCE) in Barangay Handumanan.

UNO-R and UNOHS Signs MOU

A Memorandum of Understanding was signed between the University of Negros Occidental –Recoletos and the UNO High School class 1958 during the Grand Alumni Homecoming of the Blue and Gold Alumni Association, Inc. last September  27, 2008 at the  Uno-R Gym.  Rev. Fr. Sixto Bitangjol, OAR represented UNO-R while class ’58 was represented by its class president Ms. Teresita Padilla Limgenco.  The signing was witnessed by Atty. Mateo Valenzuela, BGAAI President, Emma Libo-on Kowalski and Dr. Vilma Azucena.

UNO – R READS and OAR Scholars Take Part in Gawad Kalinga

The Recoletos Educational Assistance for Deserving Students (READS) with National Service Training (NSTP) and the Order of Augustinian Recollects (OAR) scholar went to Brgy. Banago last August 31, 2008 to get involved in the program of Gawad Kalinga whose vision for the Philippines is a slum – free, squatter – free nation through a simple strategy of  providing land for the landless, home for the homeless, and food for the hungry.

UNO-R Celebrates St. Ezekiel Day

        August 19, 2008 is the 101st death anniversary of St. Ezekiel Moreno,OAR.  St. Ezekiel is a missionary who has lived a part of his life at the Convento de Rekoleto at Talisay City.  He stayed under the medical care of the famous Recollect missionary, Padre Fernando Cuenca. St. Ezekiel was later assigned as Bishop of Pasto, Colombia, where he was afflicted by cancer and later succumbed to it in August 19, 1907. Soon, Pope John Paul II declared him as Protector Saint of Cancer patients.
