UNO-R Says, “Thank You, Dr. Sharp”

The five-month partnership between UNO-R and Dr. Bruce Burnell Sharp, volunteer consultant of the Negros Island for Sustainable Agriculture and Rural Development (NISARD) concluded with a Closing Program on July 15, 2010 at the President’s Hall.  The Closing Program was UNO-R’s way of saying “Thank You” to Dr. Sharp for the experience he has shared with the Civil Engineering graduating students of UNO-R.

VP-Academics Fr. Alve encourages book writing, praises book authors

“All of us are budding authors.”

 

UNO-R Vice President Joel Alve, OAR, in his acknowledgement and inspirational message on the occasion of the official book launching of Biology: A Laboratory Manual and the College Physics 1 Laboratory Manual, encouraged the members of the College of Arts and Sciences and the whole UNO-R community to follow the examples of book authors, CAS Faculty Ronnie Gicana and Dr. Vilma Azucena, by becoming book writers.

Bookstore Staff Succumbs to Organ Failure

Bookstore staff, Mrs. Leilani Espino Alejandro, succumbed to organ failure early morning of June 20, 2010.  Fifty-one (51) year- old “Lani”, as fondly called by her colleagues, was a former Accounting and HRMDO staff.  She is survived by her spouse Ramonito and two sons, Ryan, a Medical Technologist, and Rock, a 4th year Engineering student of this University.

UNO-R Administrator participates in The Climate Project Training in China

Brother Jaazeal Jakosalem, OAR, UNO-R Property Administrator, was selected as one of the trainees of The Climate Project Training in China. The training is ongoing from June 9-12, 2010, in Beijing, P.R.C. Former Vice President and Nobel Laureate Al Gore, with the cooperation of Alliance for Climate Protection, The Climate Project, and the China-U.S. Center for Sustainable Development is organizing the training session. The event, held with the support of the Chinese government, led by the Ministry of Science and Technology, will see Vice President Gore personally train a cross-section of 300 Chinese citizens and selected participants from other countries (US, Indonesia, UK and the Philippines) who share a commitment to reduce the harmful effects of climate change.
