In their continuing pursuit of keeping art alive, the Art Association of Bacolod – Negros is set to stage another remarkable exhibit on May 20 to June 10. This time around, top Negrense artists pay homage to the San Sebastian Cathedral as the Diocese of Bacolod celebrates its 75th anniversary.
The Tokyo University for Foreign Studies as part of their goodwill mission tour, presented a Philippine Cultural Show at the University Gymnasium last March 10, 2008.
The three sectors of the University of Negros Occidental –Recoletos: the Administration panel was headed by Rev. Fr. Sixto Bitangjol, OAR, UNO-R Acting President , the UNO-R Faculty and Employees Labor Association (UNOFELA) was headed by Union President Antonio Gargarita and UNO-R Supreme Student Government was headed by UNOSSGO President Ivan Roger Bullos met to discuss the proposed 10% tuition fee increase for academic year 2008-2009 last February 19 and 20 at the UNO-R President’s Hall.
The Office of the President and the Web Team, organized a two-day seminar workshop on News, Sports and Feature Writing held at the President’s Hall last January 25 and 26, 2008. The said seminar aimed to promote and develop the writing skills of participants.
University of Negros Occidental-Recoletos has a new added feature this year. Through the initiative of the Office of the Vice President for Student Welfare, Heart Media Photo Studio was inaugurated last November 21, 2007. It is located in the Office of the Director of Student Affairs, ground floor of the St. Ezekiel Moreno Hall (Information Technology Building).
The University of Negros Occidental-Recoletos (UNO-R), Bacolod City, represented by University President Fr. Demetrio S. Peñascoza, OAR signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) with Kwazulu-Natal University, South Africa, represented by Professor Peter Zacharias, the Deputy Vice-Chancellor and Head of the Colleges of Agriculture, Engineering, and Sciences on October 30, 2007 at the President’s Office Conference Room.
