Black Mamba Arnis Club –UNO-R Chapter joined the 1st Arnis Philippines Goodwill Tournament held last May 18, 2008 at the Casino Filipino Hotel, Goldenfield, Bacolod City. The UNO-R chapter mentored by founder Grand Master Dominador “Jun” Villaluna, Jr. got the gold in the Women’s Featherweight Division and Bronze in the Extra-Lightweight Division while other members got silver medals.
The Negros Occidental Private Schools Sports Cultural Educational Association or NOPSSCEA names UNO-R Bacolod Medical Technology Department Head Marian M. Eusoya as 2008 Tertiary Level Most Outstanding Teacher.
Eusoya bested nominees from other schools in the screening, interview and documentation including teaching performance rating, training/conferences attended professional leadership, community service, scholarly works, awards/recognitions received, curricular and co-curricular activities.

University of Negros Occidental- Recoletos High School Girls Football Team finished Second Runner Up in the Provincial Finals of the First NOFA Grassroots Football Festival held at the Manuel Y. Torres Sports Center in Bago City last December 22, 2007.

Five hardworking days, four successful blows, as UNO-R Elementary football varsity team kicked off to third place in the over-all NOPSSCEA Football cup. These hardworking kickers blanked and were also blanked, had a tie, and shaded their opponent with a point away.
Four elementary girls bagged gold medals in a swimming competition held at Panaad last June 23, 2007. The gold medalists in Swimming were Tanya Chloe Rosales of Grade VI – Leo, Akita Villanueva of Grade VI – Leo, Angelie Guevarra of Grade VI – Aries and Roliza Louise Silbugan of Grade IV – Diamond. Rosales was declared as the most bemedalled swimmer during the competition.
