Rev. Fr. Sixto “Chote” Mataro Bitangjol, OAR successfully defended his dissertation entitled, “The Human Resource Management Practices of University of Negros Occidental – Recoletos: Bases for Enhancement Schemes” last June 13, 2007 at the Graduate School of Business Management and Administration of University of San Jose – Recoletos, Cebu City.
There was once a Filipino pupil who attended his History class and was asked for the date of Philippine Independence and he got confused on the meaning of independence for he knew that there were many independence days in the Philippines . Good, because the situation made him think. The same boy grew up and entered college and was again asked the same question in his Philippine History course. There was really a great change in his response. He no longer questioned the dates but he wittingly answered, “ It depends upon the will of the President.”
June 1, 2007, on the occasion of the birthday of UNO-R’s Vice President for Academics, Fr. Raul Buhay,OAR, the University of Negros Occidental – Recoletos broke ground for its latest addition to its infrastructure development, the Hotel and Restaurant Management (HRM) Laboratory.
The UNO-Recoletos Grade School has a new principal. Mr. Nestor Garcia was appointed by the UNO-R School Board as the new principal replacing Mrs. Marcela D. Yap, who retired this year.
The Philippine Accrediting Association of Schools, Colleges and Universities (PAASCU) has granted UNO-Recoletos College of Arts and Sciences and Medical Technology Department level III accreditation which is valid until December 2009.
A three-day leadership seminar-workshop was held at the UNO-Recoletos grounds last May 28, 29 and 30. It was attended by 35 student leaders from the different student organizations in the University. The training-workshop design was a cross of “Pinoy Big Brother”, “Amazing Race” and “Survivor.” Ms. Joy Gallos was the one who designed the program and Mrs. Ma. Elena Doruelo, Mr. Jack Pamine and Mr. Carlos Legaspi were the facilitators.
