Eight high school students of the University of Negros Occidental – Recoletos will advance to the regionals on December 10-11 in Iloilo City after reaping numerous literary awards in the 2007 Division Schools Press Conference held last September.
The Fr. Mauricio Ferrero Hall of the University of Negros Occidental – Recoletos was blessed and inaugurated last December 5, 2007. The rites started with an opening prayer by Rev. Fr. Raul Buhay, OAR , UNO-R Vice President –Academics. Welcome remarks was given by Rev. Fr. Emeterio Buñao, OAR, UNO-R Director of Scholarships and Mr. Modesto Sa-onoy, Negros Occidental historian, gave a background on Padre Mauricio Ferrero, OAR.
The Barangay Officials of Brgy. 40 were inducted to office by Bacolod City Vice-Mayor Thaddy Sayson last Nov. 23, 2007 at Palmas del Mar Resort. UNO-R belongs to Brgy. 40 and the acting President, Fr. Sixto Bitangjol, OAR, witnessed the induction of officers of Brgy. 40.
Five hardworking days, four successful blows, as UNO-R Elementary football varsity team kicked off to third place in the over-all NOPSSCEA Football cup. These hardworking kickers blanked and were also blanked, had a tie, and shaded their opponent with a point away.
The Department of Education held the Division Schools Press Conference in Doña Corazon Locsin Montelibano Elementary School last September 28-29, 2007. UNO-R Elementary Department was among the Top 10 both in English and Filipino journalism, 8th in English and 9th in Filipino.
The officers of the different campus organizations of the university decided to select a new set of officers after it was known that the former president had not enrolled for the second semester. Election was done last Saturday, November 17, 2007 at the Office of Student Affairs.
University of Negros Occidental-Recoletos has a new added feature this year. Through the initiative of the Office of the Vice President for Student Welfare, Heart Media Photo Studio was inaugurated last November 21, 2007. It is located in the Office of the Director of Student Affairs, ground floor of the St. Ezekiel Moreno Hall (Information Technology Building).
The University of Negros Occidental-Recoletos (UNO-R), Bacolod City, represented by University President Fr. Demetrio S. Peñascoza, OAR signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) with Kwazulu-Natal University, South Africa, represented by Professor Peter Zacharias, the Deputy Vice-Chancellor and Head of the Colleges of Agriculture, Engineering, and Sciences on October 30, 2007 at the President’s Office Conference Room.
Fr. Sixto M. Bitangjol, OAR, UNO-R Vice President for Administration, Director of the Human Resource Management Office, Director for Basic Education, and High School Principal, has been appointed as Acting President of UNO-R in a memorandum signed by Fr. Demetrio S. Peñascoza, OAR on November 6, 2007. His appointment is effective until December 31, 2007.
