Two faculty members from the College of Criminal Justice Education, Ms. Jean Benedicto and Ms. Caryl Vina Jabasa, attended a two-week specialization training in Forensics at the Criminology F.I.L.E. Academy in Cebu City last April 14-28, 2009. Ms. Benedicto specialized in Questioned Document Examination while Ms. Jabasa in Forensics Ballistics. Rene Guimera Batayola, Jr., a graduate of BS Criminology batch 2009 and formerly a READS scholar assigned at the UNO-R Convent, officially joined the Philippine National Police Academy (PNPA) in Fort Bonifacio, Taguig City last April 30, 2009 after passing the medical-dental and PFT examinations and panel interview conducted by the said College for the course on Public Safety Administration. Anna Lorraine L. Bantugay, a member of Medtech batch 2009 who graduated Cum Laude, has qualified as finalist in the Ten Outstanding Students of the Philippines (TOSP) 2009 Regional Level according to a communication from the Commission on Higher Education (CHED) Regional Director, Dr. Isabela L. Mahler.
The University Center for Cultural and Professional Development (UCCPD) will offer a Summer Art Workshop covering Basic Drawing, Poster Making, and Oil Painting for 12 sessions starting April 22, 2009. Venue of the workshop is the Engineering Drafting Room and facilitator is Mrs. Maria Lourdes Chua, a free lance artist who has undergone art training under renowned artist Cyrene Cuenca.
