he University of Negros Occidental โ Recoletos, Incorporated committed to its value of service and excellence gathered Internationalization focal persons, administrators, and the World Ranking Committee in a 2-day Writeshop in talks of preparing for the World University Rankings for Innovation (WURI) last Oct. 20-21, 2025, at the Fr. Cuenca Hall.
On its first leg of the activity, Dr. Joe-an Escober, Central Philippine State University (CPSU) Internationalization and Linkages Director, was invited to share CPSUโs notable practices especially in agriculture breakthroughs in their Murcia Campus and application journey to WURI since 2022. As per Dr. Escober, the WURI application cannot be done by one person alone; it requires the support of the whole community.
Moreover, Dr. Escober shared the official WURI 2025 template which included 26 categories that the university can input any applicable impact programs worthy of ranking. This kicked off the writeshop proper where colleges and units brainstormed for programs to input in the application template.
On it second day, the assembly convened for the presentation of output, Dr. Escober highlighted to input programs that have impact in the community. In the afternoon, Dr. รino Corpuz, made a significant sharing via Zoom on the journey of Tarlac State University as a first-time applicant in WURI 2024.
Both Dr. Escober and Dr. Corpuz had shown commitment and passion for the World Rankings, they believed that global recognition is essential in every higher education institution as it highlights the mission of HEIs to research, service, and extension.
Rev. Fr. Joel A. Alve, OAR, thanked the attendees for their presence and reminded that innovation is not merely about bringing new, but recalibrating, repurposing, and reshaping ideas.
