UCDO CONDUCTS MANGROVE GROWING AND COASTAL CLEANUP ACTIVITY

September 25, 2021 – Twenty-five (25) UNORians conducted a Mangrove Growing and Coastal Clean-up Activity at Purok. Can-itom, Barangay Sampinit, Bago City, as part of the celebration of the Season of Creation. UCDO, through the NTP/ANTP Community Outreach Program Officers, planted 309 mangrove seedlings to reduce shoreline erosions and protect communities against coastal flooding. “September 1 to October 4 is known as the “Season of Creation.” Due to man’s greed and negligence, the world is experiencing global warming which destroys the ozone layer thus in effect human lives and properties were lost because of hurricanes, typhoons, floods, landslides, etc,” said Miss Maribel M. Gonzales, UCDO Director. She added that in the state of Climate Emergency, Christians are called to act, lead, and be agents of change rather than spectators of such devastations. The said activity was also made possible through the participation of Rambikers headed by Master Ram Rev. Fr. Amadeo Lucero, OAR, Vice President for Student Welfare.
