The University week of the University of Negros Occidental – Recoletos which will run from September 5 – 10, 2012 kicked off with the Eucharistic celebration and a Motorcade around the city yesterday, September 5, 2012.
The Interschool Drum and Bugle Competition was held at the Amphitheatre September 5, 2012 after the motorcade. Five high schools of the province participated the competition and were sponsored by the different colleges of the university. Handumanan National High School; Bata National High School, Luisa Medel National High School, Tabao National High School, and Francisco Infante National High School. Francisco Infante National High School was declared champion while Tabao National High School and Luisa Medel National High School emerged 1st and 2nd runners-up respectively. The “Best Mother Majorette” came from Bata National High School and the “Most Disciplined Group” was the Francisco Infante National High School. Rev. Fr. Jorge Peligro, OAR, Rev. Fr. Antonio Limchaypo, OAR and Mrs. Ma. Teresa Taganile were the judges to the competition.
Rev. Fr. Emeterio Buñao, OAR opened the University week in the afternoon during the cheeri-dance competition among the colleges. This year’s theme, which is anchored on the centenary celebration of the OAR, is “UNO-R:Ayer, Hoy, Siempre.”
