College of IT partners with PhilNITS for IT Competency Certification Examination

The College of Information Technology recorded three (3) major events in January. On January 20, 2009, it formalized its partnership with PhilNITS (Philippine National Information Technology Standards Foundation) and Japan External Trade Organization (JETRO) for the IT Competency Certification Examination. In the morning of the same day, the College held an Orientation on IT Certification Examination with faculty and graduating IT students with IT teachers of Higher Education Institutions (HEIs) in Negros Occidental as training participants.

At the orientation program, Fr. Raul M. Buhay, OAR gave the Welcome Address while Mr. Koji Hanawa talked about JETRO Human Resource Development Efforts in the Philippines. Mr. Shinichiro Kato then gave an overview on Opportunities for Collaboration between Japan and the Philippines. Ma. Corazon Akol expounded on the PhilNITS Certification Project. In the afternoon of January 20 until January 24, training was conducted by Isao Nakasugi.

College of IT hosts CISCO Regional Networking Skills Competition

The College of Information Technology hosted the CISCO Regional Networking Skills Competition on January 20, 2009 from 8:00 AM to 7:00 PM at the St. Ezekiel Moreno Hall. Participants in the competition were students and lead instructors of CISCO Networking Academies in Regions 5, 6, 7, and 8. CISCO officials Gerry Talisic of Mapua Institute of Technology and Glenn Abendanio of AMA University attended the event.

College of IT Community Outreach conducts Computer Literacy Training

The College of Information Technology started the Computer Literacy Training using Productivity Tools to the members of Batch 20 last January 31, 2009 at St. Ezekiel Laboratories 5 and 8. This training program is part of community outreach program of the college. Participants were public high school and elementary school teachers of Manapla while trainers were the faculty members of the College of IT. Sessions are held as follows: January 31, February 7, 14, 21, and 28, 2009.
