UNO-R College of Arts and Sciences and USJ-R meet for Institutional Dev’t and Curriculum Planning

Fr. Joel A. Alve, OAR, Dean of the College of Arts and Sciences of UNO-Recoletos, along with Mrs. Marian Eusoya, Assistant Dean, and the department heads Mr. Rufus Javier Jr. (Mass Comm. – English) Dr. Vilma B. Azucena (Natural and Biological Sciences and Agriculture, and Mrs. Nieves Hibaler- Pepito (faculty member of English –Mass Comm.) met with their counterparts from University of San Jose- Recoletos in Cebu City last August 8-9, 2008 for an institutional development and curriculum planning.

 

The two day intellectual exchange for institutional development and   curriculum planning was very productive. Matters of establishing linkages with  local, national and international industries, hiring competent and expert instructors, enriching syllabi, instructional materials and academic and course related activities and exposures were discussed .

Fr. Alve desired to have a reference point serving as a standard for his college or “a benchmark” in all departments. Among his plans are the renovation of the Mass Communication Studio, procurement of broadcasting equipment, botanical garden, a museum and revisions of curriculum to enrich department's programs and instruction and to enhance students’ learning skills and knowledge. Father Alve was a principal of UNO-R Talisay City for 6 years and at present is assuming the post both as the Vice President for Student Welfare and CAS Dean. (VHPepito)
