UNO-R LAUNCHES GAD ADVOCACY

Amidst the effort of the newly appointed Gender and Development (GAD) advocates at the University, the Gender and Development Office orchestrated an enlightening event aimed at igniting a profound understanding of Gender Equality within the fabric of our institution and the homes of every individual within our community. Entitled “Launching of UNO-R Advocacy on Gender and Development,” this event unfolded on March 22, 2024, at 3:30 pm at the University Lobby. Gracing the occasion with his presence was University President Rev. Fr. Joel A. Alve, OAR, who spearheaded the Blessing of the campaign materials, delivered the Opening Remarks. Rev. Fr. Romeo Ben A. Potencio, Jr., OAR, Vice President for Academics and Research, gave the Closing Remarks. Newly-appointed GAD Focal Person, Ms. Crystalyn O. Gonzaga, gave the Rationale of Gender and Development in organization and the essence of our collective mission. Over a hundred individuals participated in this pivotal event, including the 22 dedicated GAD advocates, who concurrently hold positions as Directors and Staff across various University offices.

Furthermore, the assembly comprised student leaders from diverse colleges and selected third-year students who had previously attended a Seminar on Gender Sensitivity, underscoring their commitment to fostering inclusivity and equity. This moment marked a significant milestone for the advocates as Gender and Development was formally integrated into our institution’s framework. It serves as a beacon guiding us towards heightened gender sensitivity and awareness, fostering a campus environment characterized by peace, devoid of harm, violence, harassment, or abuse. With an unwavering commitment to equality and justice, we embark on this journey where everyone is treated with dignity and respect.
