The University celebrates with the country the National Arts’ Month. In line with the celebration, the College of Arts and Sciences and the Office of External Affairs have chosen February 15 to be the launching day of the celebration with the theme, “Tali-ambong: Kita Pagaba-ohon.” (Arts: it will change us). The art exhibit of various artists of Negros will run from Feb. 15 to 28 from 8:30 to 5:30 pmat the Nuseo Rekoletos de Negros (UNO-R campus) and admission is free. The featured artists are: visual arts:: Bert Berondo; Larry Guillema; Revo Yanson; Christian Claur; Carlos Berondo; Joan Honoridez; Pablita Nava; Ana Mae Torres-Lacson; Ma. Lourdes “Melod” Chua for mixed media: Fr. Abraham Latoza, OAR ; Carlos Legaspi, Jr; Zard Saballa; and Fray Sarita. During the opening program at the President’s Hall. Messages about arts were shared by Fr. Louie Gabinete, OAR, Dr. Carlos Eduardo Legaspi, Jr. and Mr. Bert Berondo. Legaspi and Berondo shared about art as an expression of the social milieu of the times while Fr. Gaboinete shared that art is the one that expresses our relationship with others and with God. The celebration is in memory of one of the patron of local arts – Rev. Fr. Loreto Dacanay, OAR.
