Leading by one point, the College of Education (COE) of the University of Negros Occidental – Recoletos toppled the College of Arts and Sciences (CAS) and became the overall champion of the U-Week 2009 Literary Musical Contests on Sept 8 and 10.
COE was champion in the Impromptu Speaking (English and Filipino) and University Dance Idol, and became a first runner-up placer in the vocal solo, Binalaybay and modern standard dance sports to garner the total of 77points.
The displaced CAS, which now ranked second in the overall with 76 points, was champion in Oration, Declamation and Modern Standard Dance Sports, first runner-up in Talumpati and vocal duet, and second runner-up in Binalaybay and University Dance Idol.
Completing the top three, as overall second-runner-up, was the College of Nursing, which had 74 points by winning first place in the Latin American Dance Sports, first runner-up in street grooves and group MTV and second runner-up in vocal solo, vocal duet, Deklamasyon and modern standard dance sports.
The College of Business and Accountancy was declared the third runner-up with 70 points, College of Engineering with 67 points, College of Criminal Justice Education with 66 points and College of information Technology with 48 points.
LitMus 2009 chair, Mr. Antonio Valente, together with Mrs. Ma. Elena Y. Doruelo, Mr. Ruel Calansingin organized the contest events.#
