Koloran ta ang Kalibutan: Negros Artists & UNO-R Academic Community celebrate Earth Day 2008

The Art Association of Bacolod – Negros has chosen the perimeter walls of the University of Negros Occidental – Recoletos  as the venue of the public art mural for the Earth Day 2008 entitled “Koloran ta ang Kalibutan.” From April 19-21, 2008 the Art Association of Bacolod –Negros artists with the participation of UNO-R Web Team artists painted the walls with the environmentally conscious art designs.

 

The mural designs aim to awaken the hearts and minds of the people of Negros to actively work in preserving Mother Nature. It starts from home, how we recycle our trash, how we protect our environment with clean air and of how we live our lives as environmentally conscious individuals.

Fred Juson's Art

Nunelucio Alvarado, the current AAB-Negros President, painted his signature butterfly and human figure. His artwork projects a better life for the future. The veteran realist Fred Juson, portrayed the Maria Makiling (the Filipino figure of Mother Nature). Cyrene Cuenca created a visually-enticing design figures of fishes, flowers and trees. Brother Tagoy Jakosalem, OAR and his team works on a heart-rooted tree with leaf-like forms, that indeed the work of preserving the environment starts from the heart. Other artists, creatively transformed the walls into a visual-pulpit to tell the people: Protect & Defend Mother Nature!
