April 26-28, 2013. The University of Negros Occidental- Recoletos Supreme Student Government (UNORSSGO)hasted a leadership training or the General Planning Action (GPOA) at St. Marie John Vienney, Silay City, Negros Occidental. The 3 days and 2 nights event were participated by the Executive Department, Legislative Department, and The House of Representatives, respectively. Given half an hour to fix and prepare themselves before the session started, the respective outgoing UNORSSGO officers shared their experiences as they kicked off the event with an orientation led by Mr. Bobb Bokingko, the outgoing President who discussed about UNOGSSGO and its challenges and the UNORSSGO system discussed by the former Incumbent Senate Committee on Constitutional Amendments, Mr. Jude Xerves Herbolario who emphasizes UNORSSGO’s principles, policies, objectives, its member and responsibilities. Sole, Unified, Autonomous, Democratic Representation of the students of UNO-R is whwt exactly UNORSSGO all about. Being the primary avenue for student empowerment and the highest governing body for students, Mr. Bobb Bokingko explains of what to be expected as a student leader, these are facing both external and internal challenges, sacrifices on every financial matters, overcoming every criticisms and even the act of professionalism and courtesy upon facing every circumstances to the respective administration. Servant leadership were discussed by Mr. Isidore Vincent Adolfo, member of the UNO-R Campus Ministry which he defines leadership as a capacity to influence others through loving servant, while the strategies on how to overcome stress and anger were discussed by a UNO-R Guidance Councilor, Mr. Lino Sumbillo. Qualities for good governance and the Emerging leadership strategies were enjoyably discussed by a former UNORSSGO President, a former city Councilor of Bacolod city who is very stressful on her career, Atty. Jocelle Batapa- Sigue. The outstanding students of The Philippines facilitated training for team management, and team building which they emphasizes the first and absolute reason to be an effective leader- to be a Christ-Centered individual. The seal of commitment was then made by respective UNORSSGO officers in order to be reminded and fully-aware of their responsibilities as servant, student, and an individual leader. In the evening, a fellowship night was held to achieve camaraderie among every officers. On the last day of event. Mr. Jex Calixto of Rotary Club speaks about the strategy of planning and implementing school programs. As part of the training, Mr. Calixto helped the UNORSSGO officers in what should be consider upon implementing a program, its objectives and its descriptions, even the people involved. The UNORSSGO respective departments presented their program proposal for the new school year, 2013-2014.
