The UNO-Recoletos Supreme Student Government Senate issued resolution No. 21 declaring its vehement opposition to the PNOC-EDC intrusion to the Mt. Kanlaon Forest Reserve Buffer Zone. The resolution was sponsored by Senator Edrian Acosido and was approved by UNORSSGO President Noami Eurice Channel Dimayuga.

The resolution states that the UNOSSGO is aware of the negative effect of the project to the natural cycle of the province.  It further states that the intrusion to the buffer zone is a deviation to the preservation of the province’s natural resources.

The passage of this resolution is among the answers of UNOSSGO to the call of Bacolod Bishop Vicente Navarra for immediate actions against the intrusion into the Mt. Kanlaon Buffer zone.

Thus, UNOSSGO and the UNO-R student body gives full support to the signature campaign initiated by multi-sectoral and environment groups in the province.  It further encourages the students to fully support programs that would lead to the speedy issuance of the TRO.

Likewise, UNOSSGO, in cooperation with the Office of Student affairs and Student Welfare, initiated the wearing of the yellow ribbon as a symbol of allegiance to the cause of Mt. Kanlaon.

Also, it was resolved that the internal plans for a coalition on the issue shall be spearheaded by UNOSSGO.

The resolution was passed last July 23, 2008.

The UNO-R Campus Organization Federation and UNO-R League of Governors will also be passing a resolution soon.
