The University of Negros Occidental – Recoletos ruled the Negros Occidental Private schools Sports, Cultural, and Educational Association (NOPSSCEA) literary-musical contest held at Riverside College and USLS last September 29 and 30, 2012.
UNO-R bested all other 11 NOPSSCEA member schools in the tilt as it emerged as the over-all champion in the tertiary category. Likewise, Maria Inez S. Benedicto, a freshmen Medical Technology student of UNO-R was named 1st runner-up in the search for Mutya ng NOPSSCEA.
Leading the winners are Philip Lui Deocadiz and Thea Nicole Azuro in the Dancesport –Latin category as Champions. In Dancesport –Modern, Zoua Jean de la Real and Rudemil Tapang emerged 1st runner-up. The Hip Hop dancers got the 2nd runner-up slot while Carmelo Escototo- mentored Folk Dance emerged 1st runner-up. Jude Xerxes Herbolario and Junell Lupo got the 2nd runner-up medals in Impromptu and Talumpati respectively while Ralph Lester Mandin got the 1sr runner-up medal in Binalaybay.
Ma. Karren Katherine Perartilla and Clint Eleazar Ricarse placed 3rd runners-up in Oration and in Impromptu (Filipino). Grace Lynn Sales (Vocal-Classical); Rhea Joy Gemina (Vocal Solo – OPM) placed 3rd runners-up in their particular events while Jeff Clemen and Reysa Jane Escañan of Vocal Duet –OPM placed 4th runner-up.
This year’s UNO-R Cultural Coordinators are Mrs. Barbara Cordova, Mrs. Ma. Joselina “Wendy” Basa and Mr. Ruel Calansingin.
