UNO-R COMMEMORATES SUICIDE PREVENTION AWARENESS MONTH

The month of September has been declared by the World Health Organization (WHO) as World Suicide Prevention and Awareness Month. The Student Development and Placement Center (SDPC) spearheaded its observance. Last September 28, SDPC held an activity. In an interview with Miss Madeline Urpiana,RGC, She said that SDPC prepared various activities for the day, and the main focus was Awareness, Interaction, and Prayer. Among the Highlights were film showing produced by SDPC with Miss Trisha Marie Vergara as the lead character; an Exhibit and Interaction with guidance counselors at the main lobby; a Suicide Awareness talk held at IS La Salud Activity Center with Ms. Hanna Grace Gelogo, RPm, SDPC Director Dr. Chris Feli Joy Tajonera, RGC and Uno-r IS Principal Miss Venus Blancia, MAEd; and office-to-office prayer and candle lighting ceremony. All these activities are for the commemoration and spreading of awareness against suicide.

All these awareness programs are aimed to be different each year for the UNO-R community. In this case, Suicide prevention awareness’ main objective is to make people know that suicide is never an option, that no one is alone, and there is always hope in the beauty and of life, Ms. Urpiana added.
