The UNO-R School of Law held its acquaintance party and Welcome Freshmen program, spearheaded by the Sophomores, July 28, 6:00 p.m. at the UNO-R lobby. Mr. Jayson Olivar, Sophomore class President, shared an inspiring message from their professor, Atty. Antonio G. Laczi, saying, “Read, read, read until it hurts”. Dr. Carlos Legaspi Jr, Director of Student Affairs, presented the school policies. Induction of Barristers Club Officers headed by Judge Lorna P. Demonteverde, Assistant Dean of School of Law, followed the program. Group presentations from the juniors and seniors, games and awarding of door prizes gave enthusiasm and pleasure to the said event. It ended with closing remarks from PCInsp. Rico Santotome Jr., Sophomore Vice-President. The Acquaintance Party is held annually to give appreciation and salutation to the freshmen future lawyers.
Meanwhile, John Floyd Abrico, UNORSSGO Senate President, and Daisy May Nonato, Officer-in-charge of MassComm PR interns joined the Student Government Convention at the audio-visual room 3 of Riverside College, July 28, 8:30 a.m – 6:30 p.m. “Efficient Management of an Effective Leader” was the theme of the said convention. Dr. Ervie Gallespen, Dean of the College of Arts and Sciences of Riverside College discussed on the kinds of personality student leaders posses, Councilor Cesar Distrito talked about Stress and Time Management while, Councilor Carl Lopez focused on Student Government functions. A team building activity was organized by the TOSP Victors. At the end of the convention, special awards were given , where UNO-R got the “Early Bird” Award. Abrico was named as the Most Participative for the male category and Nonato was awarded as the “Head turner” for the female category.
