August 8, 2015, Saturday, at 6:30 am the CITCS, Instructor Mr. Rommel Adricula, the year level officers, WITS together with the seniors on-the-job trainees gathered at the University of Negros Occidental-Recoletos conducted a tree planting activity at Sitio Campuestohan, Talisay City in partnership with Bacolod City Water District (BACIWA). The group left the University at 7:10 in the morning and arrived at the said venue at 8:40 am. On the way there, they saw a picture perfect view of the city from the mountain top. Rough road was encountered by the students but as soon as they arrive, there is nothing else to compare to see where the clouds kissed the land. The place was covered by fog, cold breeze embrace the people and you will hear sweet twittering sound of the birds, a perfect symbol of nature. The participants were given a little orientation in regards with the proper handling of the seedlings and safety precautions in going up to the mountain. The group planted a total of 1,500 seedlings in that said activity. The participants finished planting at exactly 9:50 am and went back to the assembly area. There a little sharing of snacks was given to those who joined the activity. The purpose of this activity was to preserve and restore the beauty of Mother Nature that was once destroyed by men. This reforestation activity is also a help in preventing natural calamities that will possibly take place. Planting trees is like planting hope for our future. We plant these trees for the benefit of our future generation and the future of the world. (CITNEWS AND ALFRED VALENCIA)
