The Philippine Society of Mechanical Engineers – Negros Occidental Chapter (PSME-NOC) held its Annual Sportsfest at the University of Negros Occidental – Recoletos Covered Court last July 12, 2009. The whole day affair started with the celebration of the Holy Eucharist at the Oratory of St. Nicholas of Tolentino.

The program started with the invocation given by Engr. Glorybelle Galinea while UNO-R President Rev. Fr. Dionisio Cachero,OAR, welcomed all the participants to the annual sportsfest. Engr. Nariel Bantay, chapter President gave a short message while Atty. Woodrow L. Guanzon, M.E. was given the privilege to introduce the Guest speaker.
Hon. Anthony T. Golez, Jr. Deputy Presidential Spokesperson was the guest speaker. He spoke about how one, especially the Mechanical Engineers could join hands and help transform the society in general and Bacolod in particular. He parallelized his speech with the message of Christ in the Transfiguration.
After the opening ceremonies, Engr. Joseph Cordero led the players to their Oath of Sportsmanship while Engrs. Nariel Bantay, Jonathan Genovea and Herminio Tolentino,Jr. led the ceremonial lighting of the torch. Engr. Genovea, Over-all Chairman of the Sportsfest, opened the games.
Dean Christopher Taclobos, M.E. and Atty. Guanzon, were the masters of ceremony during the event.
The PSME –NOC Ladies’ Cicle headed by Mrs. Leilanie Alejandro, spouse of PSME-NOC past President Engr. Ramonito Alejandro.
