UNO-R SENT FOUR PARTICIPANTS TO THE 23RD PCAP ANNUAL CONVENTION IN CEBU

Dr. Jasmin L. Parreño, CCJE Dean, with three faculty members of the College namely, Mr. Homer Vargas, Ms. Caryl Vina Jabasa and Ms. Jean Pauyon, attended the Philippine Criminologists Association of the Philippines (PCAP) 23rd Annual Convention last November 29-30,2013 at Mariner’s Court, Cebu City with the theme: “Gearing Criminologists Towards ASEAN 2015”. The convention was well – attended by members of the association and other government and private sectors from all over the country. It is but one desire of PCAP to join the ASEAN 2015 in order to lobby the interest of the members. The two-day convention was packed with resource speakers from different government and private agencies. Atty. Ernesto Cabrera, Member of the Board of Criminology and Chairperson, Professional Regulations Commission Continuing Professional Development Council for Criminology, shared his insights on the Ethical and Legal Parameters of the Practice of Criminology and the Power of the Board to Suspend/Revoke License to Practice Profession; Hon. Teresita Manzala, Chairperson, PRC and ASEAN Qualification Reference Framework, spoke on the Role of PRC in the ASEAN QRF; Dr. Esther B. Bedaña, Commissioner, PACU-COA presented on the Accreditation of the HEI’s and the Outcomes-based Criminology Education; and more other topics presented by various speakers. Hon. Mayor Michael Lopez Rama of Cebu City came to support the convention. Guest of Honor and Keynote Speaker was Hon. Senator Peter Alan S. Cayetano who publicly expresses his support to the association. PCAP President Gerry Caño, Ph. D. encouraged everyone to bind, act and move as one to protect and advance the interest of the association. Moreover, in the election to set PCAP officers per region, Dr. Jasmin L. Parreño was elected as the PCAP Regional Director for Region 6. Congratulations to our beloved Dean!
