University of Negros Occidental-Recoletos Mass Communication Society opened its MassComm days 2013 with the theme “Social Media: Super changing the youth for tangible change”, February 16. The Opening Ceremony was highlighted with the photo exhibit of natural pictures with assigned emotions which shows the social situation of their everyday living. The opening remarks was given by Fr. Jorge Peligro, OAR. “In the end of this activity I hope you will have a wonderful experience of sharing and interacting to have the goal to look up to achieve social change. We cannot change the world if we will not start from our own blood.” he said. Bro.Jaazeal Jakosalem,OAR gave the Inspirational Message, which he emphasized our artistic view of life. “We’re trying to be different from our own field; we should see our world not only base on studies but also in our artistic reflection.” he said. He added the three dimensions of social media: first is art promotes life, second is art restores cultures and last is art ignites change. The closing remarks was given by Fr. Louie Gabinete, OAR. The two days celebration will conduct the following activities: The City Wide Radio Announcing Competition (High School Level) in cooperation with IFM and the Province-Wide News writing Competition (High School Level).
