The University of Negros Occidental – Recoletos ,PAASCU accredited level III, College of Arts and Sciences celebrated a three-in-one activity from March 3 – 5, 2010. The Social/behavioral Sciences Department; the Natural Science, Math and Agriculture Department and the Mass Communication Department simultaneously held activities.

The Social/ behavioral Sciences Department (Social Work, Psychology and Philosophy depts.) adopted the theme: One Heart , one family: Reaching out to the community. The event started with an opening program at the 1606 Park, then followed by an outreach activity at Purok Kaisahan where a talk on Preventive Medicine was given. The 2nd day was highlighted with a General Orientation on the 2010 elections at the UNO-R President’s Hall at 2pm. The activities ended on the 5th with a Bingo Social in the morning and Mangrove planting in the afternoon. The Department is headed by Mrs. Susana Caler, MAed.
The Natural Science, Math and Agriculture Department, on the other hand, celebrated their department days from March 01 – 06. The opening day was highlighted by the blessing of the Botanical garden. March 3 was a day of lecture with Dr. Victor Luis and the Natural Science and Math Quiz Bee culminated the day’s activity. Meanwhile the 4th day was a day of re-echo seminars at the High School Activity and Cultural Center and Bingo socials. March 06 was devoted as “fiesta sa Agri”. The theme of this year’s activity is “Revolutionizing Science and Math for Progress. The department Head is Dr. Corazon Acaba.
DR. JUANITA MAGAN AND THE FACULTY OF THE NATSCI,MATH AND AGRI DEPARTMENT
English and Mass Communication Department celebrated its days with the theme: “Mulitplicity of Media Roles: Hyperlinking Global Interaction.” March 4 was highlighted with a Read Along Storytelling Workshop and Contest at the UNO-R Speech laboratory. The day ended with a Poetry Reading at the UNO-R Auditorium. A lecture on Photojournalism was held at the Mascom Digital Studio. The activity ended with the ABS-CBN TV Patrol Live with “Barangay Kapamilya” and “Boto mo, Ipatrol mo.” Mass Communication Alumni Homecoming at the Main Lobby on the 5th at 6:30 PM. The department is headed by Mrs. Nieves Vaz Hibaler – Pepito. Election of the UNO-R Mass Communication Alumni Association was held with Jared Esquilla as its president.
