UNIVERSITY USHERS THE 2023 CHRISTMAS SEASON

The lights-on ceremony was held Last December 5.2023, at the University lobby. The event opened with the celebration of the Holy Mass at the Oratory with Fr. Amadeo Lucero, OAR, as the main celebrant. It was also the celebration of the 435th Birth of the Order. During the Mass, the OAR family (OAR Religious, Secular Augustinian Recollects and the Recoletos Augustinian Youth) had the renewal of vows.

This was followed by a student activity at the Main Lobby where Fr. Leo Alaras, OAR, VP-IFM, explained the theme of the activity, “Taking a Leap of Compassion, Generating Smiles through Celebrating Recoletos Spirit of Solidarity.” Afterwards, the Father President gave the community his Advent and Christmas message. He stressed the need for us to contemplate the real essence of Christmas. Entertainment numbers from different Colleges and departments were rendered to usher the spirit of the season.

The Fr. President led the lights-on ceremony with Fr. Alaras, Fr. Corvin Maturan, OAR, Campus Ministry Office Director, and UNORSSGO President Dustin Veridiano. The night ended with the RDC performing an interpretative dance number, which was centered on the joyful Mysteries of the Holy Rosary, which depicts the events leading up to the Birth of Jesus Christ.
