GROWLING TIGERS, 2023 SPORTSFEST CHAMPIONS
Garnering 370 perpetual points, the College of Engineering (CEN) Tigers took home the trophy as this year’s Sportsfest 2023 champion during the closing ceremony held at the University Gymnasium on April 23, 2023.
The College of Criminal Justice Education Maroon Dragons followed second with 330 points. The College of Accountancy, Business, and Computer Studies Yellow Griffins 3rd with 295 points. While the College of Allied Medical Health and Sciences Pink Serpents garnered 260 points, the College of Education Blue Phoenixes 195 points, and the College of Arts and Sciences Green Eagles 190 points. FR. PRES. OPENS SIGRAB 2023
Rev. Fr. Joel A. Alve, OAR led the opening of the University Sportsfest 2023, tagged as โ๐ฆ๐๐๐ฅ๐๐ ๐ฎ๐ฌ๐ฎ๐ฏ: ๐๐น๐น๐๐บ๐ถ๐ป๐ฎ๐๐ถ๐ป๐ด ๐ฅ๐ฒ๐ฐ๐ผ๐น๐ฒ๐๐ผ๐ ๐จ๐ป๐ถ๐๐ ๐๐ต๐ฟ๐ผ๐๐ด๐ต ๐๐น๐ฎ๐ฟ๐ถ๐ป๐ด ๐ฆ๐ฝ๐ผ๐ฟ๐๐ ๐๐ฒ๐๐๐ถ๐๐ถ๐๐!โ last April 18 at the university gymnasium.
A parade of athletes from Park 1606 to the gymnasium sounded the activity’s opening. After the opening formalities, Fr. Leo Alaras, OAR, VP for Identity, Formation, and Mission/ overall Chair of the College Sportfest 2023, gave the Opening Remarks. He said todayโs educational thrust is not simply academics but a holistic formation. So he encouraged everyone to learn while enjoying Sportsfest 2023. This was followed by the recognition of the NOPSSCEA season ___ winners. The crowd was then entertained by the Dragon Dance rendered by the Amity Youth. Their respective deans and Governors did the Sashing of the College muses. John Art Ligasin led the athletes in the oath of sportsmanship.
Meanwhile, the torch was passed from the UNORSSGO President-in-office, Melrose Seron, to the Governors, and COEn Basketball Team Captain John Paul Jereza lit the Symbolic Friendship Flame. This was followed by the official declaration of the opening of the 2023 College Sportsfest, tagged as SIGRAB 2023. The crowd was then entertained by a song from Stephanie Garcia, litmus vocal solo champion, and a group dance from “The Matrix.” UNOSSGO President-in-office gave the Closing Remarks. A friendship game between Colegio de Santa Ana โ Victorias and UNO-R closed the Opening ceremonies in the morning.
