The University of Negros Occidental – Recoletos will install Rev. Fr. Eduardo “Edcel” Sanchez Celiz, OAR as its 16th OAR President today, June 25, 2015 after the Institutional Mass of the Holy Spirit at the university gymnasium. The Mass will be presided by the Prior Provincial of the OAR Province of St. Ezekiel Moreno, Rev. Fr. Dionisio Selma, OAR.
The investiture rites will start with the Relinquishment Message to be given by Rev. Fr. Emeterio Buñao, OAR, UNO-R President (2012 – 2015). The Presentation of the Certificate of Appreciation to Fr. Buñao shall be done by Rev. Fr. Provincial after which the President of the Recoletos Educational Apostolate in the Philippines (REAP), Rev. Fr. Julius Marcos, OAR shall read the letter of appointment of FR. Celiz. The Fr. President will publicly profess his faith through the recitation of the Apostle’s Creed before God, his superiors, his fellow Priests and Religious and the community. Investiture of the academic authority follows. Fr. Albert Pellazar, OAR, Vice President for Academics with Arts and Sciences Dean Ms. Annabee Magbanua and Engineering Dean Christopher Taclobos will don the academic gown upon the President. Rev. Fr. William Villaflor, OAR , VP-Finance with CB&A Dean Dr. Jelyn Gaspillo and Information Technology Dean Dr. Elmer Haro will impose the Presidential Medallion to the President. VP- Student Welfare Rev. Fr. Louie Gabinete, OAR with the Dean of the School of Law Atty. John Paolo Villasor and University Registrar Dr. Carmenda Leonoras will present the University Mace to the President; Rev. Fr. Abraham Latoza, OAR , VP- Religious Affairs with College of Nursing and Allied Health Sciences Dean, Dr. Sheila Arnibal and Dr. Jasmin Parreño of the College of Criminal Justice Education will present to the Fr. President the University’s Philosophy, Vision and Mission. Fr. Enrico Peter Silab,OAR, VP-Administration, will present to the Fr. President the Roles and functions of the University President and will be assisted by Ms. Nilda Jamili, Associate Director, HRMDO and Mr. Lino Sumbillo, Director of the Student Placement and Development Center. University Chaplain and Director of the Campus Ministry Office assisted by Dr. Nena Samillano, Dean of the College of Education and Mr. Freddie Parreño, Grade School Principal, will present the Bible to the Fr. President. Director of Student Affairs and Public Relations Office Carlos Eduardo Legaspi, Jr. will present the new Fr. President to the community. The rites will be followed by the Inaugural Address of the Father President. Judge Lorna Demonteverde (Lay administrators), Engr. Noli Ortiz(UNOFELA) and Mark Edwin Jereza (UNORSSGO) will deliver their statements of support for the Fr. President and his administration. House Prior, Rev. Fr. Villaflor will give the Closing Remarks.
Freshmen Assembly follows in the afternoon. All freshmen of the different Colleges of the university will be assembled at the gym where they will be given orientation on college life and the university’s policies. Mr. Lester Sapar, RN, December 2013 Nursing Licensure Examinatons Second Placer will be the guest speaker.
