A talk with Dr. Sharp

Last two Wednesdays, July 25 and August 1,2012, the Association of Civil Engineering Students (ACES), with Philippine Institute of Civil Engineers-SC UNO-R Chapter, and The Mechanical Engineering Students Society with The Junior Philippine Society of Mechanical Engineers-UNO-R Unit hosted two Seminars about “Water Resource System” and “ Risk Management in Hydropower Plant”, respectively conducted by Dr. Bruce Sharp, an Australian Civil Engineer and adjunct professor of the University who dedicated much of his time and career to his passion in Hydraulic Engineering. During the seminar, Dr. Sharp discussed about Hydro-electricity, its use and the benefits it can contribute to our economy. He said that this project is a very good source in order to generate power for free consumption. He is currently pursuing his hydro-electric advocacy in the Philippines, specifically here in our province where at present; a test is being conducted to look for good water- source that could supply the need of this project. As part of his visit here in our country, he conducts seminar forum in this university as his way of sharing his knowledge in Hydraulic Engineering and broaden the ideas of Engineering students in the significance of water resource system. Together with his visit was Engr. Ralph Ursal, A UNO-R Alumnus and a Registered Civil Engineer who is presently working in the province.
