As UNO-R’s gateway to ideas, the Fray Luis De Leon Library is the central research facility providing support for instructional, curricular, research, and community service programs of the University.  Its resources, facilities, and services are efficiently administered for the use of its clientele – students, faculty, alumni, and the community.

Housed in a three-storey building, the Fray Luis De Leon Library is equipped with computer workstations, and has a total area of 4,594 meters that could seat 730 readers at a time. Each floor houses an Online Public Access Catalog – UNO-R’s database of library holdings.


Here to Serve

The Fray Luis De Leon Library is a member of the Philippine Library Materials Project Incorporated, and Academic Libraries Book Acquisition Systems Association Incorporated. It is staffed by 7 professional licensed libraries, 6 para professionals, and 88 student assistants.


The Fray de Leon Library is the resource center of excellence in information storage, retrieval and transmission, linked in a network providing timely and instant access to various formats of information to our very own institution’s primary clientele, to our users in the community in the region, through out the country and to the world.


The primary purpose of the Fray Luis de Leon Library is to support the instructional, curricular, research and extension service program of the university through an organized, relevant and fast delivery of information and services. It has a central and critical importance in the university because it is the vortex of academic inquiry, is involved in the instructional processes and serves a teaching-learning tool of both students and faculty.


As a vital component of the total academic environment, it has the following goals:

  • Provide adequate and up-to-date collection of books, non-books, and non-print media necessary to meet an educational research, curricula, culture and recreational needs of its primary clientele.
  • Provide and maintain relevant and adequate services which support the academic research and community service programs of the university.

To select, acquire and organize instructional materials so that they shall be readily accessible to aid faculty and students to achieve the goals of the university.

To serve as a center for instructional materials that are appropriate to support the curricular, instructional and research program at the following levels:

  • Doctoral
  • Masteral
  • Undergraduate
  • Secondary
  • Elementary

To assist teachers and students in all levels to obtain literature or information they require by serving as guide, interpreter and information agency.

To facilitate physical access to library materials (books and non-books) and to encourage thereby the fullest use of the library for all the purpose of the university.

To work with the teaching staff in the selection and more effective use of various types of instructional materials (books, non-books, non-print media, audio-visual materials) to improve the quality of teaching and learning.
