Safety and Security Department
The Safety and Security Department (SSD) advises the Vice-President for Administration regarding problems on campus security and safety. SSD takes charge of all campus security services.
Duties and Responsibilites
- Enforces the courteous and effective enforcement of rules and regulations of the University, stated and published for the safety and security of the members of the academic community;
- Oversees all traffic and parking areas within the campus;
- Presents proposal, recommendations for purposes of safety and order during campus events/activities;
- Obtains daily information from various offices regarding campus events, and plans the security service required;
- Looks after the checking and patrolling of the security of buildings and assists those authorized to use campus facilities;
- Disallows unauthorized persons to use campus facilities;
- Investigates and reports to the Property Administrator through the VP-Administration, any faulty utility service or other unusual conditions that might endanger campus security;
- Guides the security desk, maintains reports and records of on-campus events. And checks areas of unusual and/or frequent disturbances;
- Coordinates with all security personnel within the University;
- Establishes close cooperation and working relationships with the VP-Administration and other offices;
- Prepares a preliminary budget for his office and submits it to the VP-Administration for proper action; receives budget control reports; and explains variances between budgeted and actual expenditure; and
- Performs other functions as directed by the President, through the VP-Administration.
