“The University Week 2009 Celebration is a celebration of life. It is a celebration of our hopes, dreams, and aspirations as one family.”
This is how Fr. Dionisio C. Cachero, OAR, UNO-R University President, described U-Week 2009 in his opening remarks on the occasion of the Grand Opening of the week-long festivities, after the Foot Parade, yesterday afternoon.
He further said, “This celebration is even made more significant by the theme, ‘Kindling the Heart, Probing the Mind, and Enlivening the Spirit’, which provides us with a panorama of how life should be lived in the University.”
Amid a roar of applause, the grand opening became an exciting event with the Danxercise contest presentations of the students, faculty members, and some OAR religious administrators from different colleges and departments. Three of 10 ten presentations were to the popular tune of Korean “No Body Does It Like You.”
The College of Arts and Sciences bagged the award for the most organized presentation, High School Department – most colorful, College of Education – most unique, and Elementary Department – most participative awards.
Also featured in the opening were the Lion Dance of the Chamber Volunteer Fire Brigade and the Special Dance Number from the UNO-R Kasadyahan Dance Company.
