The Filipino Department of the University of Negros Occidental-Recoletos will be holding Timpalak sa Likhang-Awit at Tulayaw, today, September 9 at the UNO-R Auditorium.
Eight sections of 40 to 50 students under Filipino subjects will be participating in the Tulayaw Competition in the morning which will be followed by the Likhang Awit Contest in the afternoon.
Tulayaw is a combination of poem reciting, singing and dancing while Likhang-Awit is the performance of the different songs composed by the UNO-R students.
The one-day activity aims to showcase patriotism and nationalism through poetry and song pieces that focus on the importance of using and enhancing the Filipino language.
This year’s theme is “Wikang Filipino: Mula Baler Hanggang Buong Pilipinas” (The Filipino Language: From Baler to the Rest of the Philippines).
The competition will serve as a post-National Language Month celebration and as well as the Filipino Department’s activity during the University Week.
