The Colleges of Arts and Sciences and Engineering of the University of Negros Occidental – Recoletos hosted the First Province Wide Math and Science Quiz last September 5, 2007 as one of the highlights of the University Week 2007.
The participants came from different public and private schools in the province of Negros Occidental such as Bacolod City National High School, Bacolod Christian Center, Bacolod Tay Tung High School, Domingo Lacson National High School, Dr. Vicente F. Gustilo Memorial National High School, Luisa Medel National High School, Maranatha Christian College, Negros Occidental High School, Negros Occidental Science High School, Old Poblacion National High School, Saint Augustine Integrated School, Saint John’s Institute, Saint Joseph School- La Salle, St. Scholastica’s Academy, Sum- ag National High School, Tinongan National High School, University of St. La Salle Integrated School and Victorias National High School. Each school had two participants.
The quiz was divided into three rounds: the elimination, the clincher and the championship.
The Negros Occidental Science High School was 2nd runner-up, University of St. La Salle Integrated School 1st runner up and St. Joseph School- La Salle was the Champion of the First Province Wide Math and Science Quiz 2007.
Dr. Jose B. Ferraris, Dean of the College of Arts and Sciences and Engr. Christopher Taclobos, Dean of the College of Engineering gave each contestant a certificate of participation. Certificates of recognition were also given to all the coaches of the contestants.
St. Joseph-La Salle students Rogen N. Esperon and Paulo Emmanuel P. Betita are champions of the 1st Provincial Inter-High School Math & Science Quiz 2007 at UNO-R Bacolod gymnasium in celebration of the U-Week 2007.
