January 31, 2014- 1,000 seedlings were planted by the 170volunteers present- coming from the University of Negros Occidental-Recoletos, the Sacred Heart Seminary and some Bacolod City Water District (BACIWA) employees- at the Imbang Watershed.The tree-planting ceremony was launched with a short opening program, which was followed by an orientation on proper practices during the tree-planting activity by the BACIWA employees, at the BACIWA station at Campuestuhan, Brgy. Alangilan.Students, seminarians and volunteers gathered together and took a 4-hour hike up the mountains and crossed rivers to and fro the planting site at the top of the mountain range.The tree-planting activity is spearheaded by the UNO-R University Community Development Office supervised by Mrs.Mely Flores and the Bacolod City Water District with an aim to increase the forest covers and to help preserve our watersheds.Fr. Louie Gabinete,OAR- VP for Student Welfare, Fr. Abraham Latoza,OAR – University Chaplain and Bro. JaazealJakosalem, OAR – Property Administrator and Farm Manager- administrators of UNO-Recoletos were also present during the activity.
