13 Korean Attend ESL at UNO-R

Thirteen Korean nationals recruited through the AND English-Mathematics Professional Institution based in Daegu, Korea enrolled in the ESL (English for Speakers of Other Languages) Program of the UCCPD.

In a Welcome Program and Orientation held last January 2, 2009 at the President’s Hall, Fr. Sixto Bitangjol, OAR, University President, warmly acknowledged the presence of the Koreans who came from universities, middle schools, and elementary schools in Korea to study English in the Philippines through ESL Program offered by UNO-R. ESL Coordinator, Mrs. Ma. Judy Legaspi, gave an overview of the ESL program while Director of Student Affairs, Mr. Carlos Eduardo Legaspi, Jr. presented the school policies for foreign students. Dr, Nena Samillano, UCCPD Head, was the lady of the ceremony and introduced the tutors after Lee Jong Hyun, Korean coordinator, introduced the students individually.

An entry placement test was then conducted n January 3 to determine the levels of the students: beginner’s, intermediate, or advanced. Classes officially started January 5.
