University of Negros Occidental-Recoletos subdued Western Leyte College, 75-68, to rule the Championship League (PCCL) Visayas Islands regional games at Macias gym in Dumaguete City recently. The UNO-R Rams thus advanced to the Vis-Min qualifying games in Cebu where they will go up against the winner of the Mindanao regional games, University of Visayas and University of San Jose – Recoletos which placed third and fourth, respectively, in the CESAFI. In the battle for third, John B. Lacson College Foundation of Iloilo beat the Asian College of Dumaguete. The other teams which took part were Phil. Maritime Institute of Bohol and Negros Oriental State U. Meanwhile, the Mindanao regional games got under way yesterday in Cagayan de Oro City with teams from Cagayan de Oro, Davao City, General Santos City, Zamboanga and Northern Mindanao making up the cast. The South Luzon-Bicol regional games will be held at J.C Lobredo Coliseum, Naga City on Nov. 3-4 with champion teams from Sorsogon, Quezon Province, Naga, Tabaco, Batangas, Cavite and Laguna taking part. The North-Central Luzon regional games are scheduled on Nov. 3-5 at Lyceum North Western University Gym, Dagupan City. Competing are champions of Vigan, Baguio-Benguet, Pangasinan, La Union, Pampanga and Zambales. All the regional championship games will be covered and shown nationwide by ABS-CBN Sports and Action, Studio 23. The Champions League (PCCL) National Collegiate Championship is sponsored by ABS-CBN, Phoenix Petroleum, Molten Balls, Fil-Oil Flying V Sports, Fog City Creamery and Foccacia.
