Former Senator and former student of the UNO College of Law, Hon. Rene Augusto V. Saguisag, Sr., graced the UNO-R School of Law Barristers’ Night at the Ayala Capitol Central Hall, March 23, 2019. The theme was “70 Years of the UNO-R School of Law: Challenges and Opportunities for Legal Education and the Law Profession.” Sen. Saguisag was a law student of then UNO College of Law during the Academic Year 1959-1960. He was also the editor-in-chief of the university publication “Newsette”. After, a year he went back to Manila and pursued his Law education and got the degree of Bachelor of Laws from San Beda College in 1963. He went on to top the Bar Examinations, placing 6th among 5,493 Bar Examinees who took the exam in 1963. He went on to become one of the nation’s foremost human rights lawyers, after finishing his Master of Laws (LL.M) degree from Harvard Law School in Cambridge, Massachusetts in 1968.
