SCORES CLOSES TODAY

In order to strengthen the ties that bind all the Recollect schools in the spirit of collaboration and fraternity, the Recollect family will celebrate the 26th Students’ Congress of Recollect Schools (SCORES) at UNO-R, Bacolod City, Oct. 17-21.

“There will be Academic competitions. A new event ‘Recoletos Got Talent’ will also be launched,” said Fr. James Bumangabang, OAR, chairman of SCORES Season 26. Fr. Bumangabang, also the regent of the Recoletos Basic Education, is hoping that it will be more enjoyable and it will be a learning experience for all the delegates, to the host, and to the Recoletos family.

For the past 25 years, the participants of the event comprised high school delegates, but this year’s SCORES will cater to delegates from the elementary and college levels.

Ten Recollect schools will participate in the said event: SSCR (Cavite), USJ-R (Basak, Balamban & Main), SPA-R(Caidiocan, Negros Oriental), SSC-R (Manila), CST-R (San Carlos City, Negros Occidental), SPA (Valencia, Negros Occidental), CNTR (Talisay City, Negros Occidental), and the host- UNO-R (Bacolod City, Negros Occidental).

The second day was full of academic discussion on the history of the Recollects in the Philippines by Recollect Historian Prof. Romanillos and Rev. Fr. Ernil Almayo,OAR. The delegates were treated to a tour around the landmarks of the province on the third day of the conference and ended the day with socials at the Bacolod Forest park.

“It is not just the medal, the masskara, and the pasalubong that they (the delegates) will be bringing home, but the real essence of the Rekoleto spirit being experienced during the SCORES that they will use as scaffoldings to become a real Rekoleto in their own schools and in their own families as well,” was Bumangabang’s message to the delegates.

The closing of the 2011 SCORES will be today, October 20, 2011 at the UNO-R Gym. Fr. Bumangabang will formally close the Students’ Congress. Comes November, an Recoletos international Education Congress will be sponsored by University of San Jose- Recoletos.
