UNORian stands out in Academic Excellence Contest

 

A Fourth Year High School Student of the UNO-R High School Department excelled in the 33rd Annual Academic Excellence Contest of the Rotary Clubs of Bacolod and Iloilo South last March 6 at Sugarland Hotel.

 

James Edward Viliran competed with the ten best brains from Bacolod and Iloilo and finished Second Runner Up in the academic contest.

 

Joining Viliran in the final round was a fellow UNO-Rian, John Mark Soria and finalists from SJI, Tay Tung and BCNHS.

 

Finalist from Tay Tung emerged as Champion while the finalist from BCNHS finished 5th, the other slots occupied by delegates from Ilolilo.

Viliran and Soria definitely made it far from the Elimination and Semi-Final Rounds of the contest held last March 1 at SJI, where they contended with two hundred students from different schools all over the province.

 

Meanwhile, among the other delegates of UNO-R who joined the academic contest with Viliran and Soria,  Ned Kristian Pesca made it to the Semi-Finals. The other delegates were Charvic Malunes and Ma. Lorvena Mari Javellana.

 

The students were coached by Mary Grace Casiano, Gregorio Suñer, Raylyn Villanueva, Leila Magalona and Ma. Alon Song.
