Communication Arts Day

The Elementary Department celebrated the Communication Arts Day last Nov. 29, 2007.  The day was capped with the staging of mini-plays from the different Book Clubs and the Drama Club under the direction of their respective Club Moderators as follows:

Book Club 1 under Ms. Zonavieve Catalan presented “The Wolf and the Seven Kids”;
Book Club 2 & 6 under Ms.Riza Ann Panaligan presented “Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs”;
Book Club 3 & 4 under Mrs. Lyn Villarente presented “Snow White and Rose Red”;
Book Club 5 under Mrs. Nilda Palma presented “The Princess and the Pea”; and
Drama Club under Mrs. Sunya Phi Sumalde presented “A Twist in Classics”.

Several events and contests during the Communication Arts Day came out with the following results:

Parents’ Day Celebrated

December 3, 2008 was a tribute to the “Best Parents in the World” as the Elementary Department celebrated Parents’ Day.  The pupils prepared cards, flowers and other gifts to show their appreciation and love for their parents.  The program ended with the parents per grade level being called to come on stage as their children join them with the gifts.  But what could be more rewarding for a parent than receiving hugs and kisses from their beloved children?


 

Math and Science Day

The Elementary Department celebrated Math and Science Day last December 11, 2007.   Mr. Freddie A. Parreño – the Subject Leader, facilitated the activities with film showing to enhance the pupils’ knowledge.  Math and Science Quizzes matched up the pupils to come up with the best among the rest.  The Puppet Show Contest depicted the theme “Health, Sanitation and Environment” and was participated by groups from Grade V and Grade VI. They entertained the crowd who witnessed the show. A series of lectures served as eye-openers for the target audience.  The following were the resource persons and the topics they talked about: 

Dr. Ada Marie Pison, DMD, the University Dentist, lectured on the PROPER BRUSHING OF TEETH for Grades I & II pupils;
Mrs. Marian Eusoya, the Head of the Med. Tech. Department, was the resource person for HEALTH LECTURE ON PARASITE ACQUISITION AND PREVENTION for Grade III pupils;
Mr. Ian Christian Taocta, the School Nurse, lectured on HEALTH AND SANITATION to Grade IV pupils;
Mr. Robert John Lamis , a faculty member of the Med. Tech Dept., lectured on FOOD ADDITIVES AND HEALTH to Grades V & VI pupils.


 

Pre-elementary Christmas Presentation

Pupils from Nursery, Kinder and Prep entertained the audience and made their parents beam with joy and pride as they showed their best in their rendition of some Christmas songs and classics as they all sang and danced to the tune.


 

Grade IV as the Grand Slam Winner in the Christmas Program

After a very short but hectic practice, the pupils from the Elementary Department from Grade I to Grade VI did their best to bag the Championship in Group Singing and Choral Recitation last Dec. 19, 2007.

This is the first time in the history that the Grade IV pupils made a grand slam win in both categories.  The Grade VI placed 2nd while the Grade V tailed in 3rd.  The Grades III, II & I received Consolation prizes in both events.


 

PTA holds “Battle of Champions” and hosts Dinner for a Cause

The evening of December 19, 2007 gathered more than 500 persons in the gym for the PTA-Sponsored DINNER FOR A CAUSE topped with the “BATTLE OF CHAMPIONS” where winners of the previous year’s Musical Extravaganza were tapped to compete with each other.  The following are the winners:

LATIN DANCE SPORT:   Mr. and Mrs. Arnold & Jennifer Ea

Mrs. Ma. Judy B. Legaspi ably heads the PTA as President for School Year 2007-2008.  Proceeds of the affair will go to the construction of a Multi-purpose Center for the use of the parents and pupils of the grade school.

 

Elementary Faculty hold Christmas Party

The faculty and staff of the elementary department had fun and games during their Christmas Party last December 21, 2007.  A lot got their wishes while some were surprised and delighted to receive gifts from their manito/manita.  Everyone received door prizes Aside from receiving prizes for joining the games.  Ms. Mary Jane Machan ended up as the top winner when she   bagged the biggest door prize.


Pupils enjoy Christmas Party

December 20, 2007 was the time for the pupils to share gifts, enjoy and have fun with their classmates during their Christmas Party.  Some sections had games and dispersed after sharing their snacks while most of those in the higher grades stayed for lunch.  Holiday foods were served in abundance and everyone went home with excitement in anticipation of the long Christmas vacation.


University-wide Christmas Party

December 22, 2007 was set as the Institutional Christmas Party. It was spearheaded by the College of Arts and Sciences, Agriculture and Graduate School (RBGS) Departments.  Everyone was entertained by the special number orchestrated by the party hosts in cooperation with the KDC.  But what’s more appealing was the Raffle Draw for the numerous door prizes and cash prizes from UNOFELA.


Valeriano, runner-up in News Writing in RSPC

Six pupils were sent to Punta Villa, Iloilo City to attend the Regional Schools Press Conference (RSPC) along with the Blue Torch Adviser, Mrs. Sunya Phi E. Sumalde last January 18, 2008.  Elaine L. Valeriano of Grade VI – Aries was awarded Runner-up in News Writing. 

Other delegates to the RSPC include: 

MARY JO EMATONG; MA. SHEENA MAY GUMBAN; JULIAN DIEGO MAPA; JACKELYN SIA; MA. TRINIDAD TECSON.


14th BSP National Jamboree in Los Baños, Laguna

A total of  15 Boy Scouts and 3 Scout Masters from UNO-R Grade School  went to Mt. Makiling in Los Baños, Laguna to attend the 14th Boy Scouts of the Philippines National Jamboree last October 20 – 28, 2007.

Some 17,000 Boy Scout delegates and 119 Councils from all over the country joined the Jamboree. The activities included lessons in making kites, improvised stoves. There were also activities which were centered on faith and beliefs. The boys were also subjected to exciting and thrilling challenges which was organized by the council. These included the skills unlimited challenge that led to the challenge valley.

Other activities that the boy scouts joined and enjoyed were the “Sagip Makiling”, the Arts Unlimited” and the “Learning-by-doing”.

The UNO –R Delegates made a tour of Calamba, Laguna to see the old house of Rizal then proceeded to Canlubang, Laguna to see the new Recoletos School at Carmelray Industrial Park where they were accommodated by Fr. Cris Palomar. In Manila, the delegates spent two nights   at the Manila Science High School. They also had the chance to see the Rizal Park, the Planetarium and also made a stroll at Baywalk in Roxas Boulevard.  They were also able to attend mass at the Quiapo Church, visited the San Sebastian College and saw the beautiful cathedral made of steel.  They went malling in Divisoria and the famous Mall of Asia.

Achievers in the 2007 DepEd Palarong Panlalawigan

 

Seven pupils from the Elementary Department made it to the TEAM NOPSSCEA during the 2007 Provincial Athletic Meet (Palarong Panlalawigan) held Bacolod City last December 10-14, 2007.  The UNO –R contenders bagged the following awards:

TANYA CHLOE C. ROSALES bagged five (5) GOLD Medals and two (2) SILVER Medals in Girls Swimming
JOHN MICHAEL C. CUA bagged four (4) GOLD Medals in Boys Swimming;
AKITA G. VILLANUEVA got a GOLD Medal in 4x50m Free Style Relay in Girls Swimming;
JOHN ROBERT B. MALINAO is a GOLD Medalist in 4x100m relay in Boys Athletics;
JOSHUA N. ESTRABON got a SILVER Medal in Boys Chess;
CHARMANE JOY G. CARMONA got a BRONZE in Girls Chess
ROMA AMOR SAYSON played Chess as part of the Girls Team.

The team NOPSSCEA Elem. Boys Chess bagged the championship.  It was coached by MR JAMES UY of Bacolod Tay Tung High School.  MR. ERICSON RIOS coached the elementary girls’ chess team.

PROCEDURE AND REQUIREMENTS IN TAKING THE TEST:

            Step 1. Proceed to the Accounting Office to pay the testing fee of one hundred fifty pesos ( P 150.00)
            Step 2. Proceed to the elementary department SDPC / Guidance Office

                ·        <!–[endif]–>Present photocopy of current report card or school I.D.
                ·        <!–[endif]–>Present photocopy of birth certificate
                ·        <!–[endif]–>Proceed to the testing room for the exams
            Step 3. Come back in the afternoon of the next day for the result.

Note:   Bring pencil with eraser for the test.
