COED CONDUCTS INITIAL TUTORIAL SESSIONS IN BARANGAY GRANADA

After successfully going through the process of community profiling, feedbacking, and MOA signing, the College of Education has done its initial outreach activity in its adopted community last May 21, 2022. The activity was spearheaded by Ms. Cecille Pacis, COEd outreach coordinator. She was assisted by Sir Nikko Calumpiano. Sixteen student volunteers conducted tutorial sessions for 62 recipients in Purok Alunan in Barangay Granada. The children were a mix of pupils/students from primary, intermediate, and high school levels. The program aims to assist students of different grade levels in their current lessons. Each student volunteer was assigned to deliver a topic to them.  The College of Education will have this sustainable outreach activity twice a month until AY 2025. Student volunteers for this outreach will teach different topics in line with their area of specialization. Every outreach activity will be facilitated by Education teachers with the assistance of the purok secretary and the support of the Brgy. Captain. (Cecille Marie G. Pacis)

COED DONATES LEARNING MATERIALS TO BACOLOD SPED CENTER

The College of Education, in collaboration with Ms. Martha Rose Isiderio-Gutierrez, former faculty member of the College of Education BEED SPED Program who is now based in the United States donated learning materials to Bacolod SPED Center. Ms Gutierrez who is currently employed as 6th Grade Inclusion Teacher and IEP Advocate at Pistor Middle School, Arizona, U.S.A served as resource person in the webinar on internationalization with the theme “Augustinian Recollect Teachers: Their Testimonies and Words of Inspiration Episode 1 last March 7, 2022. The said seminar was participated by COED students. Ms .Gutierrez opted not to receive an honorarium but instead use the amount to buy materials to be donated to Bacolod SPED Center. The turn-over of materials was done last April 27, 2022 at Bacolod City SPED Center. The donations were handed by Mrs. Cecille Marie G. Pacis, COED BEED Program Head to Ms. Donna Pidut, principal of Bacolod SPED Center. (News from COEd)

COED SIGNS MOA WITH BARANGAY GRANADA

Two Memoranda of Agreement were signed last April 29, 2022 by UNO-R College of Education (COED) and partner institutions namely Purok Alunan and Fr. Gratian Murray Integrated School both located in Barangay Granada, Bacolod City. Fr. Don H. Besana, OAR, university president and Dr. Ma. Theresa H. Chavez, COED dean represented UNO-R while Hon. Barangay Captain Alfredo P. Talimodao, Jr. and Dr. Juvy S. Talimodao represented Barangay Granada Council and Fr. Gratian Murray Integrated School respectively. Both Memoranda of Agreement are good for five academic years (2022-2027).   Ocular visits to the target beneficiaries were done last April 7, 2022. Those were followed by community profiling on April 22, 2022 and feed backing on April 28, 2022.   Pre-service teachers of UNO-R COED will conduct tutorial classes for schoolchildren from primary to secondary levels in Purok Alunan while COEd teachers will conduct seminars and trainings for the faculty of Fr. Gratian Murray Integrated School to enhance their teaching skills. Other outreach activities include lectures on healthy living, solid waste management, first aid, disaster preparedness, and environmental awareness for parents in Purok Alunan. ICT trainings and seminars on work ethics and research as well as lecture on Laudato Si education will also be given to teachers in Fr. Gratian Murray Integrated School.
