COED AND CCJE OUTREACH ACTIVITIES

CCJE COMMUNITY EXTENSION PROGRAM AT LIBERTAD DOS

March 22, 2023 – The College of Criminal Justice Education faculty and staff conducted a community development program entitled “Self-Defense” with demonstration and applicability spearheaded by the International Martial Arts Instructor Mr. Ferdinand Emmanuel Gayoles, assisted by Mr. Edwin Moradilla.This activity aims to train the community on how to protect themselves in times of assaults or harassment from perpetrator/s. The program started with a prayer and ended with a prayer. Mr. Gayoles said that all you need to do; is to remember the rule that in emergency cases, there is “NO RULE,” which he said that anything and everything might happen, so if you have a chance to run away…. then run away, to keep yourself alive and if that person insists on inflicting harm, apply self-defense and do whatever it takes to survive, especially for women in instances of crimes against the person. Faculty members present with Mr. Gayoles were Dr. Gladys T. Estrellanes, College UCDO Coordinator;  Mr. Edwin N. Moradilla, Asst. Coordinator;  Dr. Jean B. Pauyon;  and Mr. Michael V. Suarez-Laboratory Assistant.

CCJE HOLDS MANGROVE PLANTING

March 19, 2023 – College of Criminal Justice Education Faculty and students, through the efforts of the Justice Education Student Council (JESC) officers, conducted a Mangrove Planting activity at Punta Taytay, Bacolod City.  JESC Governor – Elgen Bermeo and JESC Adviser – P/Maj. Benedicto A. Villarias (Ret.), in collaboration with the College UCDO and Faculty, spearheaded the activity. College UCDO Coordinator Dr. Gladys Estrellanes, Dr. Kirsty Mae Magno, and JESC officers were present. The primary aim of this activity is to help our environment maintain its natural resources and habitat and to inculcate in the mind of our students their respective responsibility towards the preservation of the environment.

COED CONDUCTS READING ASSESSMENT AND TUTORIAL SESSIONS  

As part of their outreach activities, the College of Education conducted reading assessment and tutorial sessions to Grade 7 students of Fr. Gratian Murray Integrated School in Barangay Granada, Bacolod City last March 22, 2023. Mr. Remus Magbanua, fourth year adviser, accompanied the 18 Bachelor of Elementary Education students. Fr. Gratian Murray Integrated School is the recipient of COED’s Adopt-a-School Project. (news from COEd)
