The University of Negros Occidental – Recoletos celebrated its 16th Solidarity Day with the theme “Pamatan-ong Rekoleto: Magtubo kay Kristo, Ibantala ang Pagtu-o”. The said activity aimed to foster unity and friendship among the members of the UNO-R community in fellowship and in the Eucharist. It was an overnight event to celebrate meaningfully and fruitfully the spirit of the Year of Faith and Recollect Centenary which started March 1, 5:30 p.m. and ended 5:30 a.m. the next day. Two thousand participants attended this religious youth gathering. The highlights of the event include: Academic Events (Poster Making, Essay Writing Contest, Photo Contest and Solidarity Day 2013 Quiz Bowl), Walk of Faith ( Roxas, Lacson, Lizares Streets), Eucharistic Celebration, Catechesis, Group Sharing, Faith Testimonies, Solidarity Day Bread Sharing, Cine Recoleto Short Film Presentation and Faith Concert. Two speakers graced the said event: Rev. Fr. Jorge Peligro, OAR, the university’s Vice President for Academics who gave emphasis on the topic “Pamatan-ing Rekoleto: Magtubo kay Kristo” and Fr. Peterson Tieng, LRMS shared his thoughts on “Pamatan-ong Rekoleto: Ibantala ang Pagtu-o”. Each talk was followed by group sharing and faith testimonies of invited students. The Solidarity Day 2013 was organized by the Religious Education Department and Campus Ministry Office with Rev. Fr. Abraham Latoza, OAR as the Executive Director and Rev. Fr. Cornelio Moral, OAR as the Over-all Chairman.
