UNO-R HOLDS BINYAGAN 2011

A joint Outreach Program for the poorest of the poor spearheaded by the Religious Education Department and the Campus Ministry Office in coordination with the University Community Development Office was conducted last December 08 at the University Gymnasium tagged as “Binyagan 2011”. The Mass Baptism was celebrated by Rev. Fr. Excel Saycon,OAR while the Solemn Eucharistic Celebration to commemorate the Feast of the Immaculate Conception was officiated by Rev. Fr. Dionisio Cachero,OAR, UNO-R President.
Fr. Cachero, in his homily reminded everyone that the season of Advent is the time for everyone to prepare for the coming of Christ. He also focused his homily on the Blessed Mother as Model of faith and obedience. He encouraged everyone to follow the footsteps of the Blessed Mother
.
A total of 62 catechumens were christened at the University Gymnasium. They came from within the City, Silay, Bago, Murcia and Salvador Benedaicto. They were given catechism by the CMO staff and were recruited by the Religious Education students of the university. A reception was also prepared by the Religious Education classes for their newly christened brethren.
Meanwhile, a talk on “Getting, Finding, Verifying and Building Sources” was at the UNO-R President’s Hall last 09 December at 10:30 am. Ms. Miner Generalao, Head of the Research Department of the Philippine Daily Inquirer was the speaker. Around 125 students attended the talk. Bro. Tagoy Jakosalem,OAR gave the Opening and the Closing address while Dean Nieves Hibaler Pepito of the UNO-R College of Arts and Sciences gave the token of appreciation to the speaker.
