July 15, 2013 marks one of the memorable moments for the Hospitality & Tourism Management Department of UNO-R. The 42-unit e-Learning Computer Laboratory was inaugurated by the University Vice-President for Academics, Rev. Fr. Jorge Peligro, OAR. UNO-R is the first Hospitality & Tourism Management Educational Institution in the island of Negros to integrate e-Learning in its curriculum. Starting this semester, all professional subjects in Hospitality & Tourism will have an interactive experience in the delivery of their classroom instruction. In the modern age of technology & computer, learning should be fun and will assure full retention on the part of the students. Especially in the field of hospitality & tourism that requires hands-on application because of it being a skill based profession the need for intense training & exposure is a prerequisite. A simulated bar where a student is required to mix a classic cocktail drink to improve on his bar mixology skills, an animated hotel room where one could master the International Standards in Hotel Housekeeping & a voice recognition system for its Front Office Training that practices the with standard spiels when interacting with guests. These are just few of the many activities that will inspire our students to learn. Not to mention 1000+ video topics and articles. We are looking forward to a new courseware for our Practical Accounting subjects the first semester of next year.
