State-of-the-art and fully-air conditioned Pharmacy laboratory of the College of Arts and Sciences was officially launched, 2: 30 pm yesterday, 11th of July, 2012. The said inauguration was led by the UNO-R Director for Religious Affairs, Rev. Fr. Cornelio Moral, OAR. Religious Administrators joined the blessing and inauguration of the new laboratory: Rev. Fr. President; Rev. Fr Louie Gabinete, OAR, VP Student Welfare; Rev. Fr. Jorge Peligro, OAR,VP for Academics; Rev. Fr. Rouel Sia, OAR,VP Finance. In an interview with Dr. Vilma Azucena, Head of the Natural Science Department, she disclosed that the Pharma Lab construction costs 2 million pesos which was a project of the previous administration headed by former President Rev. Fr. Dionisio Cachero, OAR and was successfully established with the help of the current administration to support the fulfillment of the department’s needs. UNO-R is the pioneer University in Negros Occidental to offer the course Bachelor of Science in Pharmacy. The course was offered in the early 60’s and was closed in the late 70’s due to a drop in enrollment. It was reopened in 2010 and is currently on its third year.
Meanwhile, The Campus Organization Federation held the Induction of Officers for Academic Year 2012-2013 last July 14, 2012, 8:00 a.m., at the University Gymnasium. It was attended by student leaders from different college councils, academic and non-academic organizations and fraternities. Rev. Fr. Louie Gabinete, OAR, University VP-Student Welfare, gave a talk to the student leaders. He reminded them of their commitment to the student body and their commitment to service. Fr. Gabinete and Dr. Carlos Eduardo I. Legaspi,Jr., Director of Student Affairs, awarded the certificates of completion to the 118 student leaders who finished the Leadership Course held last June 4-6, 2012 at the University Campus. “We have different duties but with the same purpose and that is to serve this institution with love and integrity,” Phoebe Mae Perez, COF President, said. .
