Taiwanese visits UNO-R

The University of Negros Occidental- Recoletos welcomed Dr. Israel Bau- Jen Jiang and eight graduate students of the College of Agriculture and Natural Resources of National Chung Hsing University, Taiwan on January 26, 2010 at the school’s corporate hall.

Rev. Fr. Joel A. Alve,OAR, VP- Academics officially opened the forum. While, Dr. Israel Bau- Jen Jiang, Asociate professor of Chung Hsing Unversity gave a short message about Chung Hsing University School for Agriculture.

Mutual relationship within the students and exchanging knowledge from both schools are the purpose of the said forum.

“Through this visit, the students will learn to appreciate the beauty of the course and enlighten them that there is beyond agriculture”. Natural Sciences and Mathematics and Agriculture Dept. head Dr. Maria Corazon Acaba said.

On the other hand, according to Mrs. Nieves Hibaler-Pepito, Dean, College of Arts and Sciences, “UNO-R desires to make students diverse and knowledgeable of their world view and to let them comprehend international dimensions of their field of studies and to exhibit cultural sensibility and adaptability”.

The students are: Chiaki Ogasawara, Dramila Dhakal, Tina Tsai, Celine Ten, Iris Chen, Gina Yen, Cherisse Gayonan and Jules Igar. They will stay in Negros and help in the Agricultural progress especially in the municipality of Murcia.

The visit was made through the efforts of the Municipality of Murcia and the Lux Mundi Monastery of the Congregation of St. John the Baptist. Murcia Mayor Andrew Montelibano also graced the affair.
