University of Negros Occidental-Recoletos faculty Dr. Vilma Azucena, Susana Caler and Celo Magallanes launched new books in physics, general psychology, and society and culture on December 10 at SA 101.
The three books, said College of Arts and Sciences Dean Nieves Hibaler-Pepito in her welcome address during the launching program, underwent internal and external referee.
Entitled, “Physics Made Easy,” Azucena’s new textbook simplifies the study of physics to address the needs of students who are non-science major. It goes with the Physics Manual which she earlier launched in July this year.
Azucena described her book as a simplified and logical presentation of the topics “geared towards the realization that there is fun and enjoyment in studying Physics.” Thus, aside from the practical and non-intimidating discussions and explanations of concepts and principles and detailed solutions to sample problems, there are also extra challenge questions, problems, puzzles and other forms of exercises at the end of each chapter to motivate students “to discover more about the amazing world of Physics.”On the other hand, Caler together with Magallanes published “Notes in Psychology” and her personally authored “Notes in Society and Culture with Population Education, Family Planning and Demography.” Aimed to supplement teaching strategies and make the subjects easier for the students, both books are however for exclusive use of UNO-R students.
Evaluating Azucena’s physics textbook were Dr. Fely Altaguire, Dean of the College of Engineering of Colegio San Agustine Bacolod and Professor Marlyn Jover of Carlos Hilado Memorial State College.#msf
